Curriculum

At Maffra Primary School, we offer a comprehensive curriculum based on the Victorian Curriculum.

Literacy and Numeracy are our priority areas throughout the school, and we place a strong emphasis on reading and comprehension.

Victorian F-10 Curriculum

The Victorian Curriculum F10 supports the planning for whole school teaching and learning. It incorporates the Australian Curriculum and reflects Victorian priorities and standards. It sets out what every student should learn during their first eleven years of schooling.

Discovery Learning

Maffra PS is a growth mindset school with an expectation that every student will show continual improvement during their time with us. A lot of our learning is student centred and follows clear learning intentions and success criteria designed by both teachers and students.

Information Communication Technology

Maffra is well equipped with a range of technological devices at every year level. Technology is used in a strategic way and our program is designed to have all our students ‘literate’ in a range of programs and software in preparation for high school.

Maffra Primary School has a clear mobile phone and smart watch policy in line with other Government Schools. Mobile phones and watches with messaging capabilities are not permitted at school. This ensures that the school is best equipped to work through any out of school cyber safety issues involving our students.

Reporting to Parents

We use an online Booking System for Parent/Teacher Interviews and 3 Way Conferences

Formal interviews are arranged during the year so parents can discuss their child's progress with the teacher and booking details are provided to individual families in advance of Parent/Teacher or 3 way conferences, involving students.

PLAN (National Assessment Program Literacy and Numeracy)

Each May students in Year 3 & 5 participate in National NAPLAN testing in Language Conventions, Writing, Reading and Numeracy. Families of students involved in this receive a standardized report which provides additional information regarding student achievement.
